Sometimes a job requires more than just HVAC work. A waterproofing crew needed space to install a tile drainage system along the basement perimeter - and the furnace was sitting right in the way. So before any of that could happen, we had to move it.
That kind of coordination between trades is easy to overlook, but it matters a lot. If the furnace had stayed put, the drainage system either couldn't get installed properly or would have been squeezed into a corner where it couldn't do its job. Neither of those outcomes is good for the homeowner. Smart planning up front keeps everything on track.
The relocation meant disconnecting and repositioning the furnace, then running new PVC flue and condensate lines to match the new placement. Everything had to be properly reconnected and routed - gas, venting, and drainage - so the system runs just as safely and efficiently as it did before. We also made sure the water heater nearby wasn't affected by the work.
This is the kind of job that takes real coordination. You have to think about where everything lands, what the other crew needs, and how to leave the mechanical space in good shape when it's all said and done. The result is a basement that's set up to handle waterproofing correctly and a furnace that's running exactly as it should.
Not every furnace job is a straight swap. Sometimes it's a move, a modification, or a fix that another trade needs before they can do their part. Whatever the situation calls for, we figure it out.
